The conditions right now are the conditions we need for our work. It is not a matter of waiting until the conditions are better, when the situation is calmer or we have more time, or we have more information. Now, in the midst of our daily life, engaged in our professions and households, we can and should undertake the practice of yoga. If not now, when?

Which class is right for me?
Our Class Descriptions are a great guide to picking your first class. If you're new to yoga, or new to Iyengar Yoga in particular, we recommend starting with a Level 1 class. Still not sure? Call, text, or email us, and we’re happy to help!
What can I expect during my first class?
Be sure to arrive 15 minutes early to meet your teacher, ask any questions you might have, and get a brief orientation to the studio. Class will start with a few moments of seated quiet, followed by three chanted Oms and the Invocation to Patanjali. The teacher will then instruct the class in a series of yoga poses, with a few minutes of quiet relaxation at the end. You will have plenty of time to observe the teacher, ask questions, and settle into the flow of class.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothes that are not baggy, such as a t-shirt or tank top, paired with shorts or leggings. A warm layer can also be helpful, to keep you comfortable during resting poses. No footwear is needed, as yoga is practiced barefoot.
What if I have an injury or physical conditions, I'm menstruating, or I'm pregnant?
Please let your instructor know about your injury or physical condition before class begins, as some poses may not be appropriate for you. All of our teachers are well trained in how to accommodate any limitations you may have. If you are not sure about your specific condition, ask your doctor and please contact us to discuss.
I'm not flexible, can I still do yoga?
Absolutely! We meet you where you are, demonstrating the use of props, and giving instructions on how to modify poses to make them more accessible. Over time, you’ll build up strength, stamina, balance and flexibility.
I'm still nervous to be in a class setting. Is there another option?
Yes! Some students will choose to take one or more private lessons with a teacher prior to joining community classes. This option is excellent for developing confidence and learning the fundamentals of yoga to fit your needs. More information can be found in our Private Lessons.
